a short video from iraq, published by the guardian. i’ve been out of adjectives to use when linking to iraqi stories (such as “sobering”, “gripping” etc) but watching the video is worth the five minutes.

you don’t have to be good at drawing to make me laugh using cartoons.

i’m going to stockholm tomorrow because a cousin decided to show up on a surprise visit.
i just looked out the window, wondering at what seemed to be something shining red light in my face, and outside there are the most amazing pink clouds i’ve seen in a good while. considering that i’ve had a most boring and unproductive day, this actually made me happy. also, i’m listening to fight club, and it does get you going with all the back-handed carpe diem.
as a kid i never followed any tv-shows except mccall (known as the equalizer in english speaking countries), which became a family tradition friday evenings. i still remember me and my brother bickering over who got the most potato crisp.
once on a family trip to poland my cousin introduced me to northern exposure (last stop alaska in poland). apparently it was so celebrated there that poland became one of the biggest markets for the show, with fan clubs sprouting all over the place. i never saw it here in sweden.
anywho, i’m getting my grubby hands on the episodes thanks to the miracle of the internets, and when i watched the first two episodes i realised that i might have had a crush on the character played by janine turner, a very tom-boyish and strong willed character.
once i saw her in northern exposure again, i realised that i might have always been attracted to stubborn androgynous women. and this harks back to when i’m ten years old or something.

i recommend you all to get at least the first season and watch it. it’s reminiscent of twin peaks.
also, as a public service announcement, i would like to repeat my advice to you from a couple of weeks ago: floss regurarly, lest you want to choke on blood:
a couple of years ago i tried to talk my friends into either participating in or supporting a one-off issue of intergalactic porn. hardcore porn from all over the universe! a star trek bang-bus of sorts.
the support was mediocre; i got a few volunteers for camera and light-grip. no-one was interested in being in front of the camera or a fluffer. no imagination, some people.
i had tried to find some alien themed porn, but had drawn blanks except some exceptionally crappy photoshop jobs. today, curtesy of metafilter.com i got my grubby hands on some gray-on-woman action. not all that hot, but some of them are well done.

here’s the page: http://lerchbase.blogspot.com/2007/06/alien-sex.html
and from that page there are a few more racy pictures here:

(as you should know by now, don’t visit those pages with internet explorer. chances are that the alien porn will infest your computer with galactic sperm)
mom ended up throwing away all the glorious apple stuff that i had. no-one wanted to buy it, and she can’t really keep it. thanks to all that have written kind emails with your own geek-ass comments and nostalgia. it’s much appreciated.
the ad that i put up at 99.mac was well received, as illustrated by the screengrab below:

the only two things that i kept were an old apple plus mouse (the big boxy one) and an apple mousepad with the colourful apple logo. i shall cherish them.
it serves as a reminder that other people are doing things.
my uncle has always been an avid sailor, and when i ran into him the other day he gave me a dvd with images from his latest cruise (venice, among other places). he’s organising tours for people with visual disabilities, himself being almost blind, and has asked me to document a trip they’re taking in august. i’m working then, but it would be brilliant to go. i’ll see about that.
